o,
sorry
so as to elucidate ...

'oz' means ...
australia aka aus aka aust
but best and most simply just oz :)

not ... the wizard of oz
although there are plenty of them here or there

not ... zardoz
although that's highly derivative

just oz :)

The archive is interested in spreading this technology. It requires some dedicated people to learn and use it. I got a real handle on it, I think, after about a couple of full days with it. There is no rocket science, but it does have little tricks to it.

I am not sure how to approach this yet, but if you have any ideas, let me know.

ok ~ can one assume the bookmobile is itself not the core item ~ that what is of real interest is a forum that simply covers the minimal tech needed to do the job ~ aka ~ print a book for a buck ~ via any net connection ~ can one perhaps assume the availability of a download pack that will be platform neutral ~ i'm uncertain what your current pack consists of ~ i will browse the site more ~ and ~ being tech challenged ~ i'd simply like to be able to download a mucho tight pack ~ do a simple install ~ and ~ voila ~ you're there ~ and ~ books would simply start to ... flow :) ~ big ask i know :( ~ baap

I posted a message in the buck a book topic, but let me reiterate a point. Since HP stands to be a big winner in this equation, why not ask them to make a video "how to" from beginning to end...they could also provide a *nix software package with all necessary components.

This appears to be a long-dead thread, but it's certainly not a dead topic. There are a couple hndred thousand titles available through print-on-demand by now, and Amazon is probably the biggest single outlet for them. It's more like "move over bookstores."

I recently posted a case study of the first print-on-demand book I published, about the computer business, on my site at

http://www.fonerbooks.com/pod.htm

Since I actually write trade computer books for a living, I made the choice to go with print-on-demand based on the potential, and it's paid-off both in terms of dollars and saving trees.

mmmmm ~ to start then ~ shall we just start with the tech that's already there and in use ~ make that the initial platform from which to document the current stepbystep idiots guide to buckabook operations ~ unfortunately ~ or not ~ this means dissecting the brain of the person most familiar with the tech and/or its quirky use in the field ~ and ~ spreading those neurons out so the basics are there for all to see ~ a tag you're it approach ~ bad luck there brewster :]] ~ any and all higher level conceptuals and fancies should still be contemplated of course ~ but underground ~ by the id ~ for a while at least :) ~ baap
